The golf US Open starts tomorrow and Paddy Power have a selection of specials available to celebrate the second major of the year
Tomorrow marks the start of the 120th US Open, taking place at Winged Foot Golf Course in New York. The course is said to be a very challenging one and the par is 70. It was due to take place in June but was pushed back after the global break in sport.
Last years winner was Gary Woodland, who beat Dustin Johnson to win his first-ever major. He is back this year to defend his crown but the world number 26 is currently priced at 60/1!
The favourite for this year’s US Open with Paddy Power is split between two men. The world number one Dustin Johnson and world number four Rory McIlroy. Both men are at 9/1 to win the major, but a world number one hasn’t won the US Open since 2008 when Tiger last won this competition.
Winged Foot Golf Course, last heald the US Open in 2006. This was famous for the year Colin Montgomery and Phil Mickelson both blew up on the last hole, allowing Geoff Ogilvy to get a shock win.
Golf US Open Specials
Jon Rahm or Rory McIlroy to win the US Open 2020 – 13/2
Both of these men are long overdue a major win. Rory has four in his career, his first being the US Open in 2011 and las being the PGA Championship in 2014. Rahm, on the other hand, has never won a major but has been knocking on the door for several years now. Rory is currently one of the favourites along with Dustin Johnson at 9/1. Rahm is currently ranked as the world number two and is in second place in the odds at 10/1. Realistically both of these men should be challenging at the top come Sunday but golf doesn’t always work out like that. At 13/2 though it’s a great price for two golfers who could be fighting it out against each other on the 18th hole Sunday evening.
Tommy Fleetwood & Jason Day both to shoot 68 or better in Round 1 – 8/1
A round of 68 or under requires you to go two under par on day one. Now you don’t have to shoot this in order to be at the top come Sunday but in golf, it’s very hard to chase the pack and being lower earlier on can take the pressure off. Both men are capable of going two-under on the first day and both will be going to win. At 8/1 it’s a good bet and makes the first round that bit more interesting whilst your waiting for day three and four to get going.
Dustin Johnson & Collin Morikawa both to finish in the top 5 (Inc. ties) – 16/1
This is one we really like the look of. Morikawa comes into this major fresh of his first-ever major win in the PGA Championship. The youngster will be full of confidence from this and feel like he belongs up the top with the big boys. DJ is in great form of late and has finished 1st, 2nd, 1st and 2nd in his last four competitions, one of which was T2 at the PGA Championship. As this bet includes ties, it offers slight insurance. Let’s just hope Morikawa doesn’t go the other way after his first major victory!
On top of these specials, there are many others too. Paddy Power also has a #WhatOddsPaddy section. This is a variety of different bets requested by Paddy Power customers varying from 4/7 to 500/1!
