Mid-Season Premier League Top Scorer Odds

We are already 12 games into the Premier League season and we have two-thirds of the season still to go. The race for the Golden Boot is already hotting up and we’ re going to take a look at Betfred’s latest odds!

The Golden Boot is given out at the end of the season to the Premier League’s top scorer. It makes for fascinating viewing, especially towards the end of the season when every goal really does count.

Last seasons trophy was shared between Mane, Salah and Aubameyang who each managed 22 goals. That was the first time the trophy was shared since 2010/11. This was the first time Mane and Aubameyang had won it but the second time for Salah who won it the year before with a Premier League record of 32 goals.

This seasons race for top scorer is arguably one of the hardest ever. There are some fantastic goal scorers in the running this season and any of the top players could state a good claim for the award!

Sergio Aguero: 7/2

The Argentine forward is right up there again to be the top scorer. He has got himself nine goals so far and has looked in great form. Out of all the strikers in the league, he is easily the most experienced. Aguero is currently sitting 6th in the all-time top Premier League goalscorers with 173 goals in 250 games, a ratio of 0.69 goals per game! With one golden boot already to his name, he’ll be looking for a second and City are going to need him to, to close the nine-point gap on Liverpool.

Jamie Vardy: 7/2

The Jamie Vardy Party seems to have started again in the 19/20 season. The Leicester striker has scored 11 goals in the opening 12 matches putting him the top scorer in the Premier League so far. Vardy, like Aguero, has the experience of scoring goals in the top flight. He holds the record for the most consecutive games scored in, 11. On top of this, he is nearing 100 Premier League goals and he could well reach that this season as he only needs nine more.

Tammy Abraham: 11/2

The young English striker has been a revelation for Frank Lampard this season. Coming into the side after a season at Aston Villa in the Championship many didn’t know what to expect. However, 10 goals this season shows he can handle himself with the best. He is the main striker and goalscorer at Chelsea now so more goals should come. Another interesting stat about the striker is that out of everyone in the Premier League, only Aguero has a better goals to minutes ratio!

Mo Salah: 6/1

Liverpool’s main man for the last two seasons has had a slow start for him this year. Six goals for anyone at this stage is a respectable start but not for the Egyptian. He hasn’t been at his best but is still amongst the goals. With two golden boots to his name in his first two seasons, he’s shown he knows where the back of the net is. Salah is more than likely to find his best form very soon and could easily climb higher up the goalscorers table!

Harry Kane: 6/1

Out of all players to score 100 Premier League goals or more only Aguero has a better goals to game ratio. This man is relentless in front of goal when on top form. This season he has managed six goals in the league in Spurs side that haven’t got going yet. With two golden boots already in his career, Kane is not someone you’d bet against winning a third golden boot. If Pochettino can get Spurs firing again, there is no doubt that Kane will be a big part of that!

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: 13/2

Surprisingly high odds for the man who finished joint top scorer last season. Aubameyang has scored eight times this season and is an out and out goalscorer. He has played every minute in the league so far this season, showing how important he is to Emery. With 26 games to go, last seasons tally on 22 is very reachable for the forward, who has shown he can keep up with anyone in the league.

Outsider chances:

Sadio Mane (10/1) –  The Senegalese forward is playing his best ever football. With seven goals already, could he be Liverpool’s new main man?

Raheem Sterling (10/1) – Sterling has a knack of being in the right place at the right time. With seven goals already also, could he carry on getting these simple tap ins for the rest of the season?

Marcus Rashford (33/1) – In a time when Man United need goals, Rashford has stepped up. Six goals in the league this season and nine in his last ten, he could take some stopping.
